The Patek Philippe Aquanaut was introduced in 1997 as a younger, more casual counterpart to the Nautilus, keeping the rounded octagonal case but pairing it with a patented composite strap in place of a metal bracelet. The 5167 is the core three-hand Aquanaut, and the 5167R presents it in 18K rose gold with a warm brown palette. The sunburst brown dial features a black-gradient rim, the embossed Aquanaut checkerboard pattern and rose gold applied numerals with white luminescent coating, matched by rose gold baton hands. The rose gold case measures 40.8mm from 10 to 4 o'clock and just 8.1mm thick.

Inside is the Patek Philippe calibre 26-330 S C, a self-winding movement with a 21K gold central rotor, Gyromax balance and Spiromax balance spring, displaying hours, minutes, sweep seconds and date, and finished to the standard of the Patek Philippe Seal. The dark brown composite strap closes with a patented rose gold fold-over clasp.
