The Rolex GMT-Master was developed in 1954 in partnership with Pan American Airways to give pilots and crew a way to track two time zones at once, and reference 1675 is the model that carried the collection through most of its most iconic years of production. This example wears a black dial paired with the blue and red bezel insert that earned the model its "Pepsi" nickname among collectors, set within Rolex's Oyster case and finished with the era's simple baton hands and round hour markers. The design established the visual language that every GMT-Master since has followed.
Inside is the calibre 1575, a self-winding movement built around Rolex's GMT function, which uses an independently adjustable 24-hour hand read against the rotating bezel to track a second time zone. The Oyster case of this era was rated to 50 metres of water resistance, and the movement offers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.
