The Patek Philippe Aquanaut was introduced in 1997 as a younger, sportier counterpart to the Nautilus, and reference 5167A is the steel model that came to define the collection. Its 40.8mm octagonal case with rounded edges alternates polished and satin-brushed surfaces, and the dial carries the signature embossed Aquanaut pattern in a sunburst charcoal gray that deepens to a black-gradient rim. Applied white gold numerals and baton hands with white luminescent coating keep it legible, and the matching composite strap, molded with the same pattern and resistant to UV and salt water, completes one of the most recognizable sports watches in modern horology.

Inside is the Patek Philippe caliber 26-330 S C, a self-winding movement with sweep seconds and a date aperture, visible through a sapphire crystal caseback with its 21K gold central rotor. It is fitted with a Gyromax balance and Spiromax balance spring and provides between 35 and 45 hours of power reserve. The strap closes with Patek Philippe's patented steel fold-over clasp.
