The Rolex GMT-Master II reference 16710 belongs to the second full generation of the GMT-Master II, produced from 1989 to 2007 as Rolex's dual time zone tool watch for pilots and frequent travelers. Over its production run the reference was fitted with a bidirectional rotatable 24-hour bezel in one of three factory executions, a solid black insert, a black and red insert nicknamed "Coke," or a blue and red insert nicknamed "Pepsi," continuing the two-tone bezel tradition established on the original 1955 GMT-Master. This piece presents a black dial with luminous hour markers and a date window at 3 o'clock, set in the 40mm Oyster case in stainless steel with a screw-down Triplock crown, paired with a matching Oyster steel bracelet.

Inside is the automatic Caliber 3185, a movement built specifically for the GMT-Master II line with an independently adjustable 24-hour GMT hand, letting the local hour hand be set without stopping the watch or disturbing the home-time display, unlike earlier GMT-Master calibres. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour with an approximate 48-hour power reserve, and is paired with a sapphire crystal and a water resistance rating of 100 metres, fitted to an Oysterlock folding safety clasp.
