The Rolex Daytona reference 6265 belongs to the manual winding generation of the Cosmograph Daytona produced from 1971 to 1988, the last chronograph line Rolex built before the automatic Caliber 4030 arrived in 1988. Dial executions from this era with a large red "Daytona" script above the six o'clock counter earned the collector nickname "Big Red," setting them apart from the smaller, single line text used on earlier examples. This piece carries a black dial in the classic tri-compax layout, with three recessed sub-dials for running seconds, a 30-minute counter, and a 12-hour counter, alongside applied luminous hour markers. The 37mm Oyster case in stainless steel is fitted with a fixed steel bezel engraved with a tachymeter scale, a screw-down Triplock crown, and pump-style chronograph pushers, the detail that distinguishes the 6265 from its sibling reference, the 6263, which used screw-down pushers instead.

Inside is the manual winding Caliber 727, a Rolex-modified movement built on a Valjoux ebauche and running at 18,000 vibrations per hour. It drives the watch's three-register chronograph display and tachymeter function, and is paired with an acrylic (plexiglass) crystal and a water resistance rating of 50 metres, both typical of Rolex sport chronographs from this period. The piece is fitted to a three-piece link Oyster steel bracelet.
