A Patek Philippe 6301A, featuring a distinctive sonnerie and minute repeater encased in steel with a hand-guilloché dial, recently fetched CHF 15.7 Million ($17.3 Million) at auction. The bidding opened at CHF 5 million, rapidly escalating to 8 million, then 10 million, before gradually tapering off and concluding at CHF 15.7 million. This distinctive timepiece included a dial equipped with privacy technology, visible only to its wearer. It also premiered an exclusive hand-wound movement crafted in 18-karat rose gold, featuring a central seconds hand—a debut for the manufacturer. Initially estimated to fetch between CHF 200,000 and CHF 400,000, the watch quickly surpassed expectations as the opening bid of one million CHF was eagerly shouted. The auction pace accelerated rapidly, culminating in a final sale at CHF 2 million, approximately $2.2 million USD.
